Shatrujeet Kapoor appointed new DGP of Haryana

Chandigarh, August 16, 2023 (Yes Punjab News)
The Haryana Government has announced the appointment of Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor, a seasoned IPS officer from the 1990 batch, as the new Director-General of Police (DGP). Kapoor will be taking over from PK Agarwal, who concluded his two-year tenure upon his retirement on Tuesday.

Kapoor’s selection comes after a recent meeting of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) empanelment committee, where three IPS officers were shortlisted for the prestigious role of Haryana DGP. The shortlist included Muhammad Akil (1988 batch), Dr. Ramesh Chandra Mishra (1989 batch), and Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor (1990 batch).

With Kapoor’s extensive experience and notable achievements, particularly his role as DG of Vigilance, he emerged as the frontrunner for the position. His appointment became increasingly anticipated as the selection process unfolded. Notably, Kapoor previously served as the state’s first Chief of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) under the BJP government’s administration in 2014. His dedication to curbing corruption and his strong rapport with Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has solidified his standing within the administration. This appointment affirms Kapoor’s continued influence in maintaining law and order in the state.
