National Convenor of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal on Monday addressed the ‘Vyapar Karobari milni’ (meeting with Businessmen and traders) in Amritsar. Kejriwal listened to the problems of the traders and assured them of a solution.
Kejriwal was accompanied by AAP’s national general secretary Dr Sandeep Pathak, AAP Punjab in-charge Jarnail Singh, Punjab finance minister Harpal Singh Cheema and AAP candidate from Amritsar Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and MLAs Inderbir Singh Nijjar and Jeevan Jyot Kaur.
Addressing the program, Arvind Kejriwal told the commission agents (Arhtiyas) of Punjab that Prime Minister Narendra Modi calls you middlemen. But we consider you the backbone of our economy. We have great respect for you.
He said that just as farmers and laborers are important for the development of the country, traders, businessmen and industrialists are also important. The economy of any country cannot be strong without industry. Industrialists contribute the most to the country’s economy.
Kejriwal said that you are very important to us. That is why I have come to meet you directly after the campaigning ended in Delhi. He said that when I came to Punjab last year, I came to listen to your problems. This time I have come to seek your support.
Make us strong at the Centre by giving us all 13 seats of Punjab. Then we will solve all the issues related to the Central Government and also get all the pending funds released.
He said that right now the Central Government is withholding funds of Rs 8500 crores of Punjab. Out of which Rs 5500 crore is of the Rural Development Fund. This money was to be used for roads and other rural development works in the villages of Punjab.
Apart from this, the Central Government has withheld the money of the National Health Mission, which was to be used for the improvement of Mohalla Clinics and Government Hospitals in Punjab.
He said that despite the troubles caused by the Central Government, we have fulfilled almost all our election promises in just two years. Our government has ended corruption in Punjab, due to which a lot of government money is being saved.
With that money, we are giving free electricity to the people of Punjab. Today, 83 percent of the people of Punjab are getting zero electricity bills. Apart from this, we are building mohalla clinics at various places and improving the condition of government hospitals.
We are also converting government schools into schools of excellence. All this is happening because our intentions are clear and we are working honestly.
He said that the BJP troubles opposition-ruled state governments. Now it has openly resorted to dictatorship and hooliganism.
It now threatens people that either make us win or we will not let the work of the state be done. In the state where it loses, it troubles the state government through the governor. The governor of Punjab has also stopped many important bills of the Punjab government.
Kejriwal said that today the country’s constitution and democracy are in danger due to the BJP’s dictatorship. If we do not defeat Narendra Modi this time, then the country’s democracy and constitution will be destroyed. Then the situation in the country will become like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Russia.
He said that Imran Khan was put in jail during the elections in Pakistan, due to which his seats decreased. In Bangladesh too, Sheikh Hasina put all the opposition leaders in jail during the elections, and became the Prime Minister again.
Similarly, in Russia, President Vladimir Putin put the opposition leaders in jail and got some of them killed, then he became the President with 87 percent votes.
Today the situation is the same in India. This election is also being held like Pakistan, Bangladesh and Russia. Before the elections, I and three big leaders of my party, Sanjay Singh, Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain were put in jail.
In Maharashtra, they broke Shiv Sena and NCP. In Jharkhand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren was put in jail. Kejriwal said that after putting the opposition leaders in jail, Modi says come and contest the elections. You tell me, is this the way to contest elections in a democratic country? He said that Narendra Modi wants to create such an India in which there is only one party and one leader.
Kejriwal said that the arrogance of the BJP is reaching new heights. Lord Jagannath, who is called the lord of the whole world, BJP’s national spokesperson Sambit Patra said that Lord Jagannath is a devotee of Modi ji. They have become so arrogant that they have started considering Modi is above even God.
Just a few days ago, Modi ji was saying in his interview that I was not born from the womb of my mother. I was directly sent to earth by God. I am an incarnation of God. He said that in a few days, BJP people will remove the idols of God from temples and install Modi ji’s idol. They say that Modi ji has brought Lord Ram. Whereas this universe was created by Lord Ram.
Arvind Kejriwal said that they say that they want 400 seats. Modiji wants to do something big. We found out the reason why they want 400 seats, they want to end the reservation for backward and scheduled castes. But I am fighting for you all. We will not let them end the reservation under any circumstances.
Kejriwal said that PM Modi never even talks about issues like inflation, poverty, unemployment, hunger etc. Instead of talking about work, he is asking people for votes in the name of Mangalsutra and buffalo.
Kejriwal hit back at Amit Shah’s statement on the Punjab government and said that he has openly threatened to topple the Punjab government.
What he meant to say was that after June 4, we will topple the Punjab government by buying or breaking the Aam Aadmi Party MLAs. He told Amit Shah that Punjabis have a big heart, if you ask them for something with love, they will definitely give it to you, but do not threaten Punjabis. If they get angry, they will not let you even enter Punjab.
Praising AAP candidate Kuldeep Dhaliwal, Kejriwal said that seeing the kind of support Dhaliwal is getting from the people of Amritsar, I feel that we don’t even need to campaign here. He said that Kuldeep Dhaliwal understands your problems very well. I know that he will get all your issues resolved in the Parliament.
He said that the previous MPs of Punjab never raised their voice for Punjab in Parliament. So don’t give them another chance. This time, elect Aam Aadmi Party MPs on all 13 seats. Our MPs will become the voice of Punjab in Parliament and will fight for the rights of Punjab.
