The Election Commission of India (ECI) has appointed Rahul S, IPS 2008 Batch (currently posted as DIG-cum-Director Vigilance Bureau Punjab, Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar), as Police Commissioner, Jalandhar.
Earlier in the day ECI had ordered to remove IPS Swapan Sharma as Police Commissioner of Jalandhar asking the government to assign him non-election duty.
A letter has been sent to the Chief Electoral Officer, Punjab by ECI in this regard.
