SAD condemns arrests of organisers of Khalsa Chetna March

Chandigarh, April 7, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today condemned the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government for resorting to mass arrests to sabotage the Khalsa Chetna March scheduled to be held tomorrow from Takht Talwandi Sabo to Sri Akal Takht Sahib.

SAD Spokesman Parambans Singh Romana said it was condemnable that various organisers of the March had been arrested including the mother of Bhai Amritpal Singh who is currently lodged at the Dibrugarh jail under the National Security Act (NSA).

Stating that the AAP government was deliberately vitiating the atmosphere of the State by resorting to such coercive actions, Mr Parambans Romana said “this is reflective of the anti- Sikh minds set of this government”.

Expressing solidarity with the cause behind the March – to seek release of the Bandi Singh’s and transfer of all Sikh youth incarcerated in Dibrugarh to Punjab, the SAD leader said “these two demands had also been put forward to the Bharatiya Janata Party by the SAD as a prerequisite for an alliance in the State and when they were not acceded the SAD chose not to align with the BJP”.

Mr Romana said it was shocking that while Punjabis who wished to hold a peaceful March to highlight their grievance were being thwarted, chief minister Bhagwant Mann and his entire cabinet were holding protests in Delhi to free Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal who had been arrested after being denied bail in a rs 350 crore liquor scam.

The SAD leader also appealed to Punjabis to gherao AAP leaders and ask them why they had resorted to arrests of peace loving Sikhs when they visited their constituencies to seek votes for their party in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.
