SAD can be de-recognised for violation of Model Code of Conduct in DSGMC elections: Inder Mohan Singh

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee’s political party in power Badal Dal is likely to be de-recognised for gross violation of Model Code of Conduct.

While giving information on this issue, Mr. Inder Mohan Singh, DSGMC Member said that in accordance with the Model Code of Conduct enforced with effect from 31 st March 2021, in view of the ongoing Delhi Gurdwara Elections, the party in power Badal Dal, among other restrictions, is also strictly prohibited to make any payment out of Gurdwara Funds for issue of advertisement at the cost of DSGMC in the newspapers and other media for partisan coverage of news and publicity regarding its achievements, to announce any financial grants in any forms or promises, lay foundation stones etc. of projects or schemes of any kind, make even any ad-hoc appointments in DSGMC and its institutions etc., which may have the effect of influencing the voters in favour of the party in power.

He said that whereas the party in power Badal Dal is continuously flouting the Delhi Gurdwara rules and the Model Code of Conduct thereby providing financial help in cash & in kind of ration to their party candidates to lure the Sikh voters of their areas, making regular appointments in the establishment of DSGMC, announcing inauguration of 125 bed Covid hospital & other similar projects and making big announcements regarding financial grants etc. among others in view of the ongoing Delhi Gurdwara elections without consent of General House of DSGMC as well as from the Government of Delhi.

Mr. Inder Mohan Singh has made an appeal to the Delhi’s Lt. Governor Sh. Anil Baijal, Chief Minister Sh. Arvind Kejriwal, Gurdwara Election Minister Sh. Rajinder Pal Gautam and Delhi Government Director Gurdwara Election Sh. Narinder Singh that the party in power i.e. Shiromani Akali Dal (Badal) should be de-recognised forthwith for committing gross violation of Model Code of Conduct and all the candidates of this party should be debarred from contesting the ensuing Gurdwara Election on the reserved symbol of ‘Bucket’ allotted to them.

He said that while taking cognizance on other similar complaints, notices are continuously been issued by the Director Gurdwara Elections to the President of DSGMC and other Badal Dal candidates. Mr. Inder Mohan Singh said in case of failure of the Delhi Government to take immediate action in this matter, he will not hesitate to approach the court of law to seek legal remedy.

It is pertinent to mention that the Delhi Gurdwara Elections scheduled to be held on 25 th April 2021 and announced again on 18 th July 2021 have been indefinitely postponed by the government for the time being in view of the Covid-19 epidemic.
