Sack Fauja Singh Sarari from Cabinet; Bajwa asks Bhagwant Mann to order probe into ‘leaked audio’

Chandigarh, September 12, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
Senior Congress Leader & Punjab’s Leader of the opposition (LoP) Partap Singh Bajwa on Monday has asked chief minister Bhagwant Mann to immediately sack Food Processing, Horticulture and Defence Services Welfare Minister, Fauja Singh Sarari from the cabinet.

Bajwa demanded Bhagwant Mann should also order a probe into the audio clip that went viral on Sunday in which cabinet minister Fauja Singh Sarari was heard allegedly fixing a money deal through one of his close associates.

“ As per some media reports Sarari has admitted the voice in the audio clip belongs to him but says the conversation was tempered. Therefore it is all the more imperative to check the veracity and authenticity of the audio clip and also to get to the bottom of the issue to know if the cabinet minister was trying to strike a money deal ”, said Bajwa.

Bajwa said a fair and independent probe into the audio clip would be possible only once the cabinet minister either stepped down voluntarily or Bhagwant Mann asked him to resign.
“ Bhagwant Mann should not forget that on May 25 he had sacked his own health minister Dr. Vijay Singla after he claimed in a video message that the latter was found indulging in corruption over the phone. Not only Bhagwant Mann sacked him from the cabinet but Dr. Singla was also arrested on the same charges”, said Bajwa.

Bajwa said once again Bhagwant should lead by an example and ask Sarari to put in his papers till the inquiry about his audio clip was completed.

“ In case no inquiry is conducted by the Punjab government this will mean double standards of Bhagwant Mann. Moreover if Sarari continues to occupy the cabinet post he can influence the complainants as well as the witnesses in the case who may want to come forward to throw more light on the facts of the audio clip”, added Bajwa.

Bajwa said in fact after coming to power in Punjab it was only the Bhagwant Mann government that encouraged people to make complaints on its official web portal supported with audio and video clips to eradicate corruption. “ So what holds him back now”, Bajwa questioned.
