Rupnagar Police busts inter-state gang, recovers 11 pistols: SSP Viveksheel Soni

Rupnagar police have busted an inter-state arms gang, by recovering a huge consignment of illegal arms including 11 pistols of .32 bore with magazines and 37 live cartridges.

Addressing a press conference, SSP Rupnagar Mr. Viveksheel Soni said that major incidents could be carried out during Independence Day-2023 with these weapons. He said that the supply chain of inter-state arms smugglers has been broken and raids are being conducted to arrest the more accused who are indulged in the smuggling of illegal weapons in punjab.

SSP said that under the leadership of S.P. (Detective) Dr. Navneet Singh Mahal, and DSP (Detective) Rupnagar Manveer Singh Bajwa, Satnam Singh in-charge CIA had busted an inter-state gang who smuggled the weapons from Madhya Pradesh and have strong network in various states of our country.

He said that after the recovery of this large consignment of arms, other culprits involved in this illegal trade are also being traced so that strict legal action can be taken against the culprits.

Viveksheel Soni said that on March 30, 2023, Malkit Singh alias Billa, associate of Gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuriya, was arrested with recovery of five pistol and 20 live cartridges. A case has been registered at police station Bhagwantpur. Acting on his statement given during the interrogations, gangster Buta Khan named in the same case and brought here on production warrant from District Jail Hosiharpur for the further investigations.

He said that while inquiring about the case from Malkit Singh alias Billa and tracking his backward links as well as on the basis of the tip-off given by accused Buta Khan, the team of in-charge CIA Rupnagar Inspector Satnam Singh raided village Gheranv, PS Barla, Badwane, Madhya Pradesh and recovered 11 pistols and 37 live cartridges from a plastic bag near a shack built by inter-state arms smuggler Depak in the dense forest.

Viveksheel Soni said that police teams have been conducting raids in Madhya Pradesh to arrest the accused Deepak. After his arrest, there is a possibility of many more important revelations.
