Rotary Club Chandigarh organizes Rotary Youth Leadership Award for students of Institute for the Blind

Rotary Club Chandigarh organized a youth leadership workshop for the visually challenged at the Institute for the Blind, Sector 26, Chandigarh, informed President Vinod Kapoor.

Inaugurating the workshop, Rotary Youth Leadership Award (RYLA), Swami Anupamananda, Secretary of the local Ramakrishna Mission Ashram, spoke about the ‘Light Within’ and said the visually challenged are doubly blessed as they have a very heightened sense of knowing about their surroundings.

He advised the students to stay truthful and honest which alone can help one attain credibility in life.

All of us are intellectually challenged and we need to connect with our inner being by closing our eyes to find the inner potential, the inner light within ourselves to stay energised since each one has a purpose in life to make this a better world.

Motivational speaker, author and former IAS, Vivek Atray, inspired the children by showing how they can make use of ‘Creative Thinking and Resilience’, and excel in their lives. Everyone can be creative in whatever we do so as to bring out our individuality and find solutions to every problem.

DPS Chandigarh Principal Rtn. Reema Dewan and corporate trainer Manjula Sularia conducted an interactive workshop to teach them the ways to enhance their communication and interpersonal skills, and develop an entrepreneurial mindset to solve any problem in life.

Institute’s Principal J.S. Jayara underlined the importance of changing one’s attitude and perspective to be the best and said that humans have a better mental capacity to turn every challenge into an opportunity.

Earlier, the Rotary Club President Vinod Kapoor handed over various items of stationery required by the Institute.

Rotary District 3080’s Assistant Governor and District Chair of RYLA Amrit Pal Singh Dhiman informed how Rotary was impacting the lives of youth through such leadership programmes.

Rotarians who participated in the workshop included Assistant Governor Amrit Pal Singh Dhiman, who is also the District 3080 Chairman of RYLA; past presidents Rtn Charanjit Singh, Rtn Man Mohan Singh Kohli, Club Secretary Teena Avinder Virk; Col Alok Batra, among others.
