The Punjab Golf association held its 20th rendition of the annual Punjab state amateur golf championship on the 26th and 27th of October at Ranjitgarh Golf Club, Phillaur.
The prize distribution ceremony was presided over by Mr S K Sharma, IPS retd, President (PGA) and Mrs Anita Punj, IPS, ADGP cum Director PPA Phillaur. Mr Yurinder Singh Hayer, IPS, IGP cum Additional Director PPA Phillaur was honored by the PGA for his contribution to sport in Punjab.

Results
Those amateurs whose handicap was 6 or less, were eligible to participate and the format of the tournament was stroke play. A total of 39 players participated on the 1st day out of which 24 made the cut, set at 12 over. Kailash Dhiwar, who was the leader at 1o over post round 1, managed to hold on to that lead to win at 7 over par. Manoj Masih gave a good fight but a bogey on the last meant that Mr Dhiwar won outright. Official scores of the winners stood at Kailash Dhiwar 149(+7), Manoj Masih 150(+8),Ranvir S Pandher 151 (+9).
The second day also saw the inclusion of invitees from different golf clubs of Punjab and a seperate one day tournament was held for them. The format was stroke play with the addition of a Net category. The special prizes and their winners are listed below.
Nearest to the pin – Mr Vikrant (1 ft 4 inches)
Longest Drive – Mr Balwinder Mattu (292 yds)
Straightest Drive – Mr Snehdeep Sharma (2 feet)
In the Net category, the runner up was Col B S Rathi at a score of -1(70) and the winner was Mr Nitin Mittal at a score of -3(68).
In the Gross category, the runner up was Mr D K Singh with a score of +13(84) and the winner was Mr H S Bhullar with a score of +9(80).
