Punjab Cabinet Reshuffle on Monday: 4 Ministers to Be Dropped, 5 New to Be In

Chandigarh, September 22, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)
The Punjab government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), is set for a major cabinet reshuffle on Monday evening.

As part of this reshuffle, five or six new ministers are expected to be inducted, while four or five current ministers are likely to be dropped.

The state government has already requested time from Governor Gulab Chand Kataria for the induction of the new ministers. Sources said the function to induct new ministers is likely to be held at Punjab Raj Bhawan in Chandigarh at 5.00 PM on Monday, September 23, 2024.

Several senior ministers and MLAs were called to Delhi on Sunday afternoon for a meeting with AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, which is expected to take place later in the evening.

Ministers Likely to Be Dropped

Sources indicate that five sitting ministers have been asked to resign. Those expected to be dropped include:
– Chetan Singh Jouramajra
– Balkar Singh
– Brahm Shankar Jimpa
– Anmol Gagan Maan

This reshuffle marks the fourth time in the 30-month tenure of the AAP government in Punjab that changes have been made to the cabinet.

New Ministers Expected to Join

The reshuffle will see the induction of six new ministers, with possible candidates including:
– Mohinder Bhagat
– Ravjot Singh
– Taranpreet Singh
– Hardeep Singh Mundian

With the reshuffle, the Punjab cabinet will move closer to its full capacity of 18 ministers. Currently, the cabinet has 15 ministers, including Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.

Reason for the Reshuffle

This cabinet reshuffle is being seen as a significant overhaul in the wake of the Lok Sabha poll results and feedback that AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal has gathered since being released on bail recently. Sources also suggest that portfolios of some ministers may be changed as part of the reshuffle.

The reshuffle is expected to reflect the party’s strategy and its preparation for upcoming political challenges in Punjab, with the aim of strengthening governance and improving performance in the state.
