Chandigarh, August 22, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

To improve the skills and competencies of candidates in line with industry requirements, the Punjab Skill Development Mission (PSDM) has partnered with the Indian Army’s Panther Division in Amritsar.

This collaboration aims to offer free skill and vocational training to the families of serving and retired JCOs, defence personnel, veer naries living in Amritsar, war widows and youth from the border areas.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Ms. Amrit Singh, the Mission Director of PSDM, and Colonel Milan Pande, the Commanding Officer of the 15 DOU, Amritsar Panther Infantry Division of the Indian Army, in the presence of Mr. Aman Arora, the Minister of Employment Generation, Skill Development & Training in Punjab, here on Thursday.

Commending the PSDM for this partnership, Mr. Aman Arora informed that a total of 240 dependents of serving and retired Army personnel will receive training at the Panther Infantry Division of the Indian Army in Amritsar under the first phase.

He emphasised that the Punjab Skill Development Mission plays a crucial role in preparing the youth of Punjab for the industry and its collaboration with the Indian Army to assist serving and retired army personnel and their dependents marks a significant step in this endeavour.

The Director of PSDM Ms. Amrit mentioned that the training will focus on job roles such as Beauty Therapists, Domestic Data Entry Operators, Self-Employed Tailors and Child Care Takers (non-clinical) under the SANKALP scheme.

The primary goal is to elevate the skills and proficiency of candidates in alignment with industry requirements, ultimately offering them employment opportunities to improve their livelihoods.
