Pooja Hegde, now a celebrated actress in both North and South Indian cinema, started her career far from the glamorous image she’s known for today. Reflecting on her early days, Pooja shared how her transformation was not just about evolving her style, but also about embracing new passions and hobbies that contributed to her personal growth.
In the beginning, Pooja’s focus was more on comfort than on fashion. Her wardrobe choices were practical and laid-back, reflecting a tomboyish vibe. However, as her career progressed, so did her interest in fashion.
She began experimenting with her style, gradually transitioning from casual outfits to chic ensembles, eventually establishing herself as a fashion icon in the industry. But Pooja’s transformation wasn’t just about appearances.
Alongside her evolving style, she developed a passion for fitness and even picked up the guitar, channeling her energy into new hobbies that enriched her life.
Pooja’s journey has been marked by a relentless pursuit of self-improvement. As she navigated her career, fitness became a central part of her life, a change she embraces wholeheartedly. “I used to be lazy about fitness, but now I can’t imagine my life without it. It’s become a part of who I am,” Pooja candidly shared.
Her audience has watched this evolution closely, witnessing her transformation from the girl-next-door to a fitness enthusiast and style icon. “The audience saw me as the girl next door for a long time, but I wanted to show them that I could be more,” she added.
Beyond her physical and style transformation, Pooja also embraced her flair for languages. Raised in Mumbai, she grew up speaking Tulu, her mother tongue, alongside Hindi, Marathi, and English. This linguistic ability made it easier for her to pick up Telugu for her roles in the South Indian film industry.
“When I was shooting for *Oka Laila Kosam* and *Mukunda*, my Telugu was decent because I was interacting with everyone—my staff and the unit members—in Telugu,” she recalled. Though she admitted that a gap during the filming of ‘Mohenjo Daro’ left her a bit rusty, she confidently stated, “But I will pick it up real fast.”
On the work front, Pooja Hegde is set to star alongside Shahid Kapoor in *Deva*. Additionally, she has a couple of major projects lined up in the South Indian film industry, which are yet to be officially announced.
