NHAI Chairperson Alka Upadhyaya reviews progress of highway projects in Jalandhar

Jalandhar, June 24, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Chairman Alka Upadhyaya on Friday reviewed the progress of various highway projects including Delhi-Katra Expressway, Jalandhar Bypass, in Amritsar-Bathinda Greenfield Bypass and widening of NH-70 and Adampur flyover.

During a video-conference with the Punjab Chief Secretary Anirudh Tiwari and Deputy Commissioners, NHAI Chairman said that the projects in which appointed date (date which contractor should start work) had to be declared on priority so the process of land possession and disbursement of awards need to be expedited on war footing so that land could be handed over to contractors thus paving way for construction work.

Later, Chief Secretary directed all Competent Authorities for Land Acquisition (CALAs) to ensure possession of land to be acquired under these projects by July 15.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori said that in Jalandhar, 65-percent of the land under Delhi-Katra Expressway had already been taken under possession including 55-percent in Jalandhar-II, 78-percent in Phillaur, 82-percent (Amritsar connectivity) and 45-percent (main alignment) in Nakodar. Under Jalandhar-bypass and widening of NH-70 and Adampur flyover projects, 100-percent land had been taken under possession and work on Amritsar-Bathinda Greenfield Bypass had been recently started.

He also appealed the farmers whose land was being acquired under these projects to not to sow any crop.

Prominent among present on the occasion included SDMs Balbir Raj Singh, Randeep Singh Heer, District Revenue Officer Jashanjit Singh and others.
