A 45-year-old man, Harbans Singh, was brutally murdered in broad daylight on a busy road in Dera Bassi, a satellite town near Chandigarh.
The incident occurred while Harbans Singh was traveling on a bike with a female relative, when he was attacked by assailants riding a Splendor bike. The attackers stopped him and stabbed him to death, leaving him dead on the spot.
Harbans Singh, a resident of Rampur Bahla village, worked as a security guard, while the female relative accompanying him is employed at a private company.
The motive behind the murder remains unclear, though there are unconfirmed reports suggesting that the attackers may have had a grudge against the woman. It is still unknown why Harbans Singh was targeted instead of the woman, if indeed the grudge was related to her.
Police have registered a case and launched an investigation to uncover the details surrounding the crime.
