Students from Lovely Professional University (LPU) have once again showcased their innovation prowess by emerging as champions in the prestigious national “Yukti Innovation Challenge (YIC)” 3.0, convened by the Government of India’s Ministry of Education.

The LPU team, known as “Innovortex,” surpassed over 1,000 teams from across India to claim victory in the student innovation category of Robotics and Drones.

The Ministry of Education has also recognized the students’ exceptional talent by awarding them a grant of Rs 5 Lakhs to support their innovative endeavors. The victory at the YIC comes on the heels of their recent success at the Smart India Hackathon-2023 Grand Finale (Hardware Edition), solidifying LPU’s position as a leader in research and innovation

The groundbreaking innovation developed by the LPU students aims to tackle the critical issue of collisions and accidents during construction and excavation processes, with a particular focus on tunnels and caves. Their robot presents a promising solution that can revolutionize safety measures in these challenging environments.

Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, the Founder Chancellor of LPU and a distinguished Member of the Rajya Sabha, expressed his heartfelt congratulations to the students and their mentors. He commended their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence, urging them to keep their passion for innovation burning bright.

Dr. Mittal also emphasized the significant milestone achieved by the students, as they embark on their entrepreneurial journey at such an early stage of their lives.

The victory in the YIC not only honours the exceptional talent of LPU students but also positions them as contributors to the national repository of ideas, innovations, and startups developed by academic institutions.

The competition has provided them with invaluable mentoring, training, and handholding activities, facilitating the further development of their innovation into a scalable and sustainable business model.

The success of LPU students in national competitions underscores the university’s commitment to nurturing and empowering its students to excel in innovation and research.

By fostering a culture of creativity and providing a platform for students to showcase their talent, LPU continues to establish itself as a leading institution driving technological advancements and entrepreneurial success.

The Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell (MIC) and the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) have been instrumental in fostering a culture of innovation within higher education institutions across the country.

The YIC, a flagship initiative under the YUKTI program, provides comprehensive experiential learning opportunities for innovators. It encompasses market validation, intellectual property generation, refinement, business plan development, and startup formation, among other aspects.
