Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney issued helpline numbers for both urban and rural areas of the district on Tuesday. People can use these numbers to report any instances of water contamination in their homes.
During a meeting to assess the on-going efforts to combat vector-borne diseases, Sawhney mentioned that for rural areas, individuals can call the toll-free number 18001802468 to report any problems related to drinking water contamination.
In urban areas falling under the jurisdiction of the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana, residents can contact 0161-2749120, and for areas governed by local Municipal Councils, the number to report water contamination is 0161-2920012.
The Deputy Commissioner stated that the district administration and health department have identified 32 high-risk areas where fogging is being carried out by respective MC teams. She also mentioned that door-to-door surveillance is being ensured to monitor suspected cases of dengue and other infections.
She also spoke about completing 100% pre-monsoon water sampling and taking action where the sample was not found to be potable. Additionally, teams have taken samples of drinking water in schools, and corrective actions are being taken where the report is not satisfactory.
The ADCs Anmol Singh Dhaliwal, Rupinder Pal Singh and others were present in the meeting.
