Saints and followers of the four communities of Jainism in Punjab along with their followers participated in the Kshama Yachana Divas (Forgiveness Day) celebrated at Guru Nanak Auditorium of Punjab Raj Bhavan today. The Governor of Punjab and Administrator of UT Chandigarh Mr. Gulab Chand Kataria along with his wife Mrs. Anita Kataria also participated in this event.
Speaking on the occasion Shri Gulab Chand Kataria said that the history of Jainism is very old, in which Kshama Yachana has a great significance.
Mentioning the importance of Kshama Yachana in today’s life, the Governor said that the purpose of Kshama Yachana Divas is not only the external purification of the body but also the spiritual purification. He said that forgiveness is possible only when we leave our pride and start walking on the path of simplicity.
He further said that in today’s modern era, when there is a race to collect the most materialistic things all across the world, Jainism has a very unique characteristic that very educated people who follow its path leave behind packages of crores of rupees and move towards the path of liberation.
He further said that the best solution to stop the exploitation of natural resources in the world has been shown by Lord Mahavir in Jainism and who follows the path of Jainism, uses the natural resources only according to their minimum needs.
The Governor added that we should also keep our children associated with such religious institutions to make them aware of our rich cultural traditions.
To participate in the event, Manishi Sant Munishri Vinay Kumar Ji Alok reached Punjab Raj Bhavan with a massive friendship march from Sector-7 Chowk. Expressing his thoughts on this occasion, Manishi Sant Munishri Vinay Kumar Ji Alok said that on this festival of forgiveness, let us all come together on one stage and forget the petty discrimination of our minds and highlight Jainism.
On this occasion, Sant Sagar Ji said that this festival teaches us that if your feelings are good then ignore small mistakes in daily behavior and by learning from them, we get inspiration not to make any new mistakes again.
Sadhvi Shri Santosh Maharaj expressed her views and said that man is taking bypass path everywhere in life, but bypass can be possible everywhere, but don’t take it while forgiving, ask for forgiveness and do it sincerely.
Mr. Mukesh Jain, General Secretary of All India Jain Conference Sector-18, Sushil Jain, Secretary of Shwetambar Murti Puja Society Sector-28, Ved Prakash Jain, President of Terapanth and a large number of Shravak Samaj from the region participated in the event.
