The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP from Sri Anandpur Sahib Malvinder Singh Kang raised the issue of better facilities for our budding players in the parliament.
Kang wished all the very best to the Olympics participants of India and said that he has no doubt that these players will bring laurels to our country but it is the time to reflect on the facilities and opportunities we provide our young players to represent our nation at the highest level.
The AAP leader also demanded Bharat Ratna for Balbir Singh Sr and said that giving the highest honour to our sportspersons will inspire our youth towards the right direction. He further said Punjab’s contribution in the field of sports is unparalleled.
He said that in the 1970s there used to be a time when the entire football team was from a small town of Punjab Mahilpur. He said that a small constituency of Balachaur produces the best basketball players in our country.
Kang brought the attention of the house towards the lack of proper infrastructure and opportunities for the young children to grow in sports.
He said that our country doesn’t lack talent but we don’t have a system to help our players from a young age. He asked the sports minister to build a system to help budding players so that they can win medals and trophies for our country.
