The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has formed a committee to investigate the issue of forcing Sikh candidates to remove Kakaars during the exam of Patwari recruitment held by Punjab Government at a college in Sector 32, Chandigarh.
SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur has formed a committee under the leadership of SGPC general secretary Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, SGPC executive committee members Ajmer Singh Khera, Amrik Singh Shahpur, and SGPC member Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal. SGPC additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna will coordinate this committee.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that it is unfortunate that the sentiments of Gursikh candidates were hurt during the examination conducted by the Punjab government.
“The perpetrators of this objectionable act should be severely punished. SGPC has constituted a committee to take further action in the matter, which would contact the victim candidates and submit an investigation report”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka said, “It is a serious matter as Sikh candidates were “mentally harassed” during the tests conducted by the Punjab government. SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur has entrusted me to lead a committee with the task of getting the matter investigated and bring the culprits to book to ensure severe punishment.
The probe will be started in this regard soon. I appeal to the aggrieved Gursikh candidates to approach the SGPC so that the culprits could be punished.”
