Instead of creating problems for people, farmers should work with the Govt for a resolution: Kang

Chandigarh, August 22, 2023 (Yes Punjab News)
The Aam Aadmi Party has reacted to the clash between the Punjab Police and the farmers. AAP Punjab Chief Spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang expressed grief over the death of a farmer during the protest and expressed condolences to his family. He also expressed commiseration to the police personnel and farmers who were injured during the clash.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters on the violent clash of Sangrur, Malvinder Kang said that it is the responsibility of the state government to maintain the law and order situation and the government is fulfilling its responsibility. Kang appealed to the farmer unions to maintain peace and cooperate with the government in maintaining law and order.

He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has never turned away from the problems of the farmers. From day one, he has been working for the betterment of farmers and has taken many historic decisions.

He said that the payment of sugarcane was pending for the last several years. The Mann Government cleared it on a priority basis and now no one has pending sugarcane payment. Today, the farmers are getting the highest rate of sugarcane in Punjab.

Apart from this, the Land Mortgage Bank, which deals with farmers in rural areas and was on the verge of closing, was given a package of about Rs 1,100 crore by the Mann Government.

He said that I appeal to the farmers’ organizations that instead of becoming the cause of problems for the people, focus on solving the problem together with the government. People will be in trouble due to the closed toll plazas and roads in Punjab. Someone may also have a medical emergency. It is everyone’s democratic right to protest peacefully, but peace and order should be maintained during the protest.

Assuring the farmers about compensation for the losses due to floods, he said that the process of Girdawari is going on to compensate the farmers of different areas of Punjab due to this natural calamity. Soon the payment of compensation will be given. The government is committed to provide compensation to the farmers. The state government has released Rs 186 crore to the deputy commissioners of 16 districts for the loss of crops in the flood-affected districts.

He added that most of the demands of the farmers’ unions are related to the central government, so they should protest against the central government.
