The shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday near the intersection of Upper James Street and South Bend Road. Randhawa, a student at Mohawk College, was on her way to work when she was caught in the crossfire of a gunfight between occupants of two vehicles. She sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was rushed to the hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Hamilton Police have identified the vehicles involved as a black Mercedes SUV and a white sedan. Video evidence indicates that a passenger in the Mercedes fired shots at the white sedan. Both vehicles fled the scene immediately after the incident. Additionally, bullets struck a nearby residence on Allenby Avenue, but fortunately, no one inside was injured. Police are appealing to the public for any dashcam or security footage from the area between 7:15 p.m. and 7:45 p.m.
