Haryana CM issues directives to ensure safety and convenience of Kanwariyas and Public

In a high-level meeting held recently, Haryana Chief Minister Shri Nayab Singh Saini issued clear instructions to all senior officials to ensure that devotees face no inconvenience during the Kanwar Yatra.

He specifically emphasized that Haryana Police must make all necessary arrangements related to law and order during this period to provide a safe and convenient environment for devotees and the general public. The Chief Minister directed all concerned departments to be fully prepared in terms of law and order, medical facilities, traffic, and security well in time.

The Yatra will begin on July 11, 2025, during which lakhs of devotees will carry Ganga water from Haridwar either on foot or by vehicles to perform Jalabhishek at their local temples. A significant number of women devotees are also expected to participate in this pilgrimage.

Alert issued in the state regarding Kanwar Yatra; necessary instructions given

For the peaceful, safe, and well-organized conduct of the upcoming Kanwar Yatra 2025, Haryana Police has made extensive arrangements. A comprehensive plan has been formulated to maintain law and order, ensure devotees’ safety, and regulate traffic. The police force across the state has been placed on alert mode, and all districts have been issued special instructions.

Security and law & order arrangements

Adequate deployment of police forces has been ensured across all districts of the state. Leaves of police personnel have been suspended from July 11 until the end of the Yatra to ensure maximum availability of forces. Round-the-clock patrolling will be carried out at all sensitive locations, checkpoints, and camp sites under the supervision of senior officers.

Special arrangements for devotees’ convenience

Special deployment of female police personnel has been made for the safety of female Kanwariyas along the route. Separate lanes have been ensured for devotees walking the Yatra paths, and camps have been instructed to be set up away from main roads. All hotels and eateries have been instructed to clearly display food item lists and prices to avoid any disputes with pilgrims.

Strict restrictions and awareness campaign

Kanwariyas are being advised not to use LPG cylinders, sharp weapons, spears, etc., during the Yatra. Guidelines have also been issued to comply with noise control norms regarding DJs and loud music. Shopkeepers have been instructed not to sell Kanwars taller than 10 feet to avoid accidents with overhead power lines.

Communal harmony and vigilance

Police forces have been instructed to take immediate action in case of any communal tension or rumors. Security has been ensured at all religious places, especially those that are considered sensitive. Strict surveillance will be maintained on suspicious individuals, and all police units have been instructed to promptly identify and act against any antisocial elements attempting to pose as devotees.

Coordination between administration and devotees

Coordination is being established with Kanwar organizing committees. They have been instructed to ensure that all Kanwariyas and organizers carry identification documents. Dialogue and cooperation between the administration and organizers will be crucial for the successful conduct of the Yatra.

DGP’s appeal to devotees

The Director General of Police, Haryana, has appealed to all devotees to cooperate with local administration, follow all rules, and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police outpost or helpline 112. He assured that Haryana Police is fully alert and committed to the successful and safe conduct of this religious Yatra.
