Govt approves VRS of IPS Officer, Appoints him as Chairperson of Public Service Commission

The Odisha Government has approved the voluntary retirement of Senior IPS Officer Arun Kumar Sarangi. A notification regarding this was issued by the Odisha Home Department on Saturday.

Sarangi is currently serving as the Special DGP (Training) and Director of the Biju Patnaik State Police Academy (BPSPA) in Bhubaneswar. Previously, he also held the position of In-charge DGP of Odisha Police, temporarily replacing the incumbent DGP, YB Khurania.

In addition to approving Sarangi’s voluntary retirement (VRS), the Odisha Government has appointed him as the Chairperson of the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC).

The Home Department’s notification mentioned that Sarangi had submitted his request for VRS on September 30, 2024. The government has granted his retirement, effective from October 7, 2024, along with all post-retirement benefits.
