Managing Director, Sugarfed, Punjab Dr. Senu Duggal on Tuesday reviewed the preparations for hassle free and smooth sugarcane crushing
season for farmers in Cooperative Sugar Mill, Morinda
During a meeting with the higher officials of the sugar mill, she took stock of mill and issued strict instructions in meeting that all possible efforts should be made to make the establishment profitable while reducing the expenses of the mill.
Managing Director visited the plant and instructed the workers and officials to ensure that the plant to be fully prepared for the next crushing season. Repair and maintenance of mill should be done as per technical norms, so as to ensure sugarcane crushing in time.
Dr. Senu Duggal said that the farmers of the area should not face any problem. The production of sugar should be done in a very neat and clean manner, so that the best quality sugar can be produced by the mill.
Managing Director, Sugarfed, Punjab also inspected the cleanliness of the entire area of the mill and issued instructions to the concerned officials to pay special attention to the cleanliness of the mill and the quality of sugar.
She also informed that area of sugarcane has increased to 6819 hectares this year from 5824 last year fall under Sugar Mill, Morinda and the mill has set a target of crushing more than 28 lakh quintals during the crushing season 2024-25.
He also issued instructions to the officials of the mill that necessary facilities should be provided in “Kisan Vishram Ghar” for the farmers bringing sugarcane to the mill.
He also gave directions that the slip should be issued strictly according to the calendar for the supply of sugarcane so that all the targets of the mill can be achieved.
She said that she will visit to all cooperative sugar mills in State to further streamline the functioning. Out of Twelve, Nine functional cooperative sugar mills are located at Ajnala, Batala, Bhogpur, Budhewal, Fazilka, Gurdaspur, Morinda, Nakodar and Nawanshahr with crushing capacity of 17750 TCD and three sugar mills are lying closed located at Patiala, Tarntaran and Zira. 1.80 lac farmers families are connected with the sugar mills in the State.
Pointing out the features of Punjab Cooperative Sugar Mills she said that our mills are providing quality services to the farmers such as disease free seed, pest control management timely purchase of their produce and making them timely payment to encourage them to grow more quality sugarcane in the State.
