Jalandhar, November 22, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

Prominent environmentalist Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal emphasized collective unity, urging everyone to step forward and contribute to maintaining environmental purity. He was addressing a meeting with officials from various departments at the District Administrative Complex today. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal was also present on the occasion.

The MP and environmentalist reviewed the ongoing projects for drain cleaning in the district, stressing that while departmental officials need to work with more seriousness, every individual must take responsibility to ensure drains are not polluted.

Sant Seechewal stated that maintaining environmental purity is a shared responsibility, calling for coordinated and united efforts. He reminded everyone that Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji regarded water, earth, and air as supreme elements, and thus, every individual must fulfill their responsibility to prevent drains from becoming polluted.

Emphasizing the need to conserve groundwater, he said water conservation is a crucial necessity of our time.

Sant Seechewal further instructed officials to strictly prevent dairy waste discharge into drains and take strict action against violators. Additionally, he suggested planting more trees along the drains to enhance their visual appeal, making them focal points of attraction.

Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal assured that all ongoing projects for drain cleaning would be completed promptly. He stated that he is personally monitoring these projects to ensure the environment-related tasks are finished on time. He appealed to district residents to unite in maintaining the beauty of the drains and conserving water. Dr. Aggarwal also urged farmers not to burn crop stubble to help keep the environment clean and pure.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development) Budhi Raj Singh, along with officials from various departments, was also present on the occasion.
