Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader and former Punjab minister S Bikam Singh Majithia today dubbed the AAP- Congress collusion as “an unholy wedlock” in which both parties have treated Punjab as a bargaining chip to seal an immoral deal.”
“I have always said that AAP and Congress are like a hydra-headed snake joined at the hip. They have just revealed their true fangs. The two parties are like a forked tongue sticking out of a single poisonous jaw,” said Mr Majithia
In a statement here, Mr Majithia called upon the Speaker of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha Kultar Singh Sandhwan to announce a reallocation of seats and shift the Congress legislators to treasury benches . “ The official Opposition in Punjab is dead. It is no longer Opposition; it is all official now. The Congress is now officially a faction of the ruling party.”
“With their brazen announcement of collusion, the cat is finally and decisively out of the bag” said the Akali leader
Mr Majithia termed the tactical “merger” of the two anti-Punjab and anti-Sikh parties as “ the Great Betrayal” of the people by them. “The Congress and AAP had enacted the drama of opposing each other in the assembly poll merely in their shared hatred of the SAD.“
The Akali leader said that the two parties struck a quid pro quo in which Punjab has been sacrificed at the altar of the games which they play at the national stage. “In a quid pro quo, the Congress has agreed not to contest against AAP in Punjab and Delhi while AAP will not oppose Congress anywhere in the rest of the country.
As a apart of the same quid pro quo, some of Congress MP from are leaving and joining AAP along the lines of ex Congress MLAs who had left Congress to join AAP and became an AAP MP under “tactical support from the Congress
Mr Majithia maintained . that SAD has been saying all along that these two parties have been playing intrigues with the people of Punjab in a conspiracy to keep the true representatives of Punjab and the Khalsa Panth away from their legitimate right to serve the people of the state.
