MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla, concerned about the filth spread in Amritsar city, held a meeting with the Corporation Commissioner and the officers of sewerage water supply on Monday. In which former MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma was also present.
In the meeting, the complaints of filth spread in every part of the city and mixing of sewerage water in drinking water were discussed.
MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that in the ongoing dispute between the corporation and Avarda Company, both the parties are blaming each other but people are getting suffered. There are heaps of filth in the city.
On which the officials told MP Aujla that a state level committee has been formed by Avarda Company regarding garbage management including increasing tipping fees and clearing Bhagatanwala dump, which will submit its report regarding garbage management in the city.
According to Aujla, the meeting also discussed the heaps of garbage in the city and the use of MP fund. He said that he also talked to the Chief Secretary, who is also reviewing this issue.
The state level committee will decide how much money Avarda company will spend to manage the garbage and how the Bhagatwala dump can be emptied.
He said that the situation in the city remains critical, in which there is a lot of garbage in Cheharta, Sultanwind, 88 feet road, Gumtala, Mahal, Sharma Colony, Annagarh and other areas. Not only this, garbage is spread everywhere in the posh areas as well.
In many parts of the city, dirty sewerage water is mixing with drinking water.
MP Aujla said that plantation was discussed in the meeting. A contract of Rs 3.5 crore was signed with the Improvement Trust for plantation for G20.
In which these plants were also to be taken care of, but not a single plant is visible.
Different agencies are working in the city, like Airport Road is with the PWD. In such a situation, meetings will be held with every department to provide basic facilities in the city.
He has asked the officials to plant ornamental plants on the footpaths, in which flowers bloom on the plants according to the season. In this, there has been a discussion about planting trees on Novelty Chowk, Mall Road.
MP Aujla said that a project is going on the Valla Canal with the help of Baba Kashmira Singh and Parliamentary Fund.
At the same time, a project has been asked to make an underpass on the railway line to take the road on both sides of the canal from Taranwala Bridge to Valla.
Apart from this, there has also been a discussion in the meeting about the water treatment plant under construction in Valla.
