BJP Punjab President Sunil Jakhar and Vice President Jai Inder Kaur today visited the flood affected villages of Patiala district to take stock of the damage caused due to unprecedented rains in Northern India.
BJP Punjab president along with other state leaders visited Patiala’s villages Bolarh, Bolarhiyan and Rathiyan.
Addressing a press conference at Moti Bagh Palace after visiting the villages Sunil Jakhar said, “After taking over as the President of BJP Punjab this is my first visit to Patiala Lok Sabha and we decided to visit the flood affected villages of Patiala. It’s saddening to see the state of people who are badly affected by this tragedy.”
Jakhar further said, “The Punjab Government has severly failed the people of Punjab in handling this situation even though their were advance warnings of heavy rainfall in the state. Now also no Girdawri has been done till now in any of the villages, if timely survey isn’t done then how will the government provide appropriate compensation to the farmers.”
Talking about Congress the BJP President said, “The job of opposition has now solely fallen upon the BJP as Congress has laid down its knees and completely surrendered to the Aam Aadmi Party even though it is the main opposition party in Punjab Vidhan Sabha. But we will hold the Aam Aadmi Party accountable for its complete failure.”
Answering a query about a special package for Punjab Jakhar said, “The Narendra Modi led Central government has already released Rs 218 crore for Punjab, while even waving off all the set rules. Our Punjab CM is saying that he doesn’t require any special help from the Centre as the Punjab govt is capable of taking care of it on it’s own.”
The Punjab president also urged BJP workers to provide any kind of help that they can to the people affected by these floods.
