Bajwa writes to Amarinder, reminds him of his promise of a Medical College in Gurdaspur

Chandigarh, June 14, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Former PPCC president and Rajya Sabha Member Partap Singh Bajwa has shot off a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh reminding him of his promise for the creation of a Medical College in Gurdaspur parliamentary constituency.

In his letter, Bajwa said the Chief Minister had made a promise in April 2018 regarding the creation of a medical college in Gurdaspur Parliamentary Constituency.

He said that the Government of Punjab, on 10th of June 2021, announced the creation of four new medical colleges in Mohali, Hoshiarpur, Kapurthala and Malerkotla.

Bajwa said, “A medical college and hospital has been a long-standing demand for the people from Gurdaspur district, as otherwise they have to travel to Amritsar to receive treatment for serious illnesses,” adding that the promise was made by the Chief Minister during a public rally at Batala.

Suggesting that this grave injustice is corrected at the earliest, Bajwa said, a promise made by the Chief Minister cannot be broken as it is the promise of the Government of the day. “Anything less would be disastrous for the Congress Party in the region. Especially after the faith, the people placed in the Party during the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections,” he said.

The Congress leader urged the Chief Minister to move forward with the plans to establish the medical college in the parliamentary constituency without any further delay, preferably at Batala in the name of Mata Sulakhni ji.

“The medical college should be dedicated to the celebrations of the 550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev ji, whose marriage was solemnized in Batala in the year 1487,” he said.
