Australia based agri-entrepreneur and agriculturist Agyakaar Singh Grewal visited Punjab Agricultural University (PAU) and held parleys with the Vice-Chancellor Dr Satbir Singh Gosal. Accompanied by Gurnam Singh Dhaliwal, the duo deliberated on diverse facets of farming in Punjab as well as Australia.
Welcoming the two-member Oz delegation, Dr Gosal stated that earning recognitions and accolades in the foreign lands is a testament to the indefatigable spirits of the Punjabis, who face all the perils with courage and leave no stone unturned in achieving milestones in life. Dr Gosal called upon the delegation to participate in the upcoming NRI Conclave, scheduled to be held at PAU from May 10-12.
While interacting with PAU VC, Agyakaar Singh Grewal, who held deep-rooted ties with PAU before migrating to Oz in 1988 and is presently putting up at Victoria in Australia, told that he was engaged in the cultivation of kiwi, blackberry and traditional fruits of Australia in addition to the wheat flour production.
“I am running a firm under the name “Grewal Farm Fresh,” he said, while advocating the promoting of agro-processing and value addition among Punjab farmers due to remunerative returns from this subsidiary occupation. He lauded PAU for its significant contributions to the field of food processing and setting up of agro-processing complexes in Punjab which have resulted in increased employment opportunities and given economic dividends to the startups.
Dr Nirmal Jaura, Director Students’ Welfare, while coordinating the meet and proposing a vote of thanks, stated that PAU keeps stimulating the farmers as well as the students through intellectual and practical aspects.
