Another opportunity to block anti-farming laws in Rajya Sabha: Bhagwant Mann

New Delhi / Chandigarh, September 18, 2020

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab President and Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann has called on all Rajya Sabha MPs in the country to oppose the anti-agriculture bills passed by the Modi government in the Lok Sabha.

Don’t let it pass. At the same time, Bhagwant Mann lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Amarinder Singh and the Badal family, especially Harsimrat Kaur Badal.

Addressing the media at the party headquarters here, Bhagwant Mann said that September 17 would always be celebrated by the country, especially Andata, as ‘Black Day’.

The dictatorial manner in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his birthday (September 17) passed the anti-agriculture bill in the Lok Sabha has ruined the country, especially the farmers of Punjab and Haryana and the agricultural dependent artisans, bookkeepers, laborers and transporters and extended favour to the corporate houses, this day will always be remembered as a black day, because these black laws of Modi will make the king of the farm the farmer, a beggar. Farmers will not remain masters even if they become masters.

Bhagwant Mann appealed to all Rajya Sabha MPs of the country to stop these anti-agriculture black laws in the Rajya Sabha regardless of party affiliation.

Mann said that all the three Rajya Sabha members of the Aam Aadmi Party would oppose these black laws by pressing the red button on the Rajya Sabha table.

Bhagwant Mann termed the U-turn of the Badal family and the resignation of Harsimrat Kaur Badal on anti-agriculture ordinances as absurd and sheer drama.

According to Mann, “The resignation of the drama queen (Harsimrat) is like beating the line of the past. When people put up no-entry boards for Akalis in the villages, a sudden U-turn was taken.

These deadly ordinances could have been prevented from appearing in the Lok Sabha if Harsimrat Kaur Badal had strongly protested and walked out of the cabinet and the Badal Dal had also taken to the streets with the farmers’ organizations and the Aam Aadmi Party. No matter how much the Badal family may enact dramas and beg now, the people of Punjab will never forgive them for the crimes they committed for the sake of ministership.

Bhagwant Mann also sought an explanation from Chief Minister Amarinder Singh as to why he had clandestinely agreed to the ordinances.

Bhagwant Mann sternly said that one of Raja Amarinder Singh’s painful veins was in the hands of BJP (Modi-Government) and they twisted arms to get his consent on any issue, no matter how anti-Punjab it may be.
