Deputy Commissioner Malerkotla Dr. Pallavi has declared a holiday in the district on Wednesday, July 17, on the occasion of Muharram (Youm-e-Ashura).
According to the orders, all the government, semi-government offices of the district and government, non-government and private educational institutions will remain closed.
However, holiday will not be observed in educational institutions, universities, boards, schools, colleges etc. where examinations are being held.
This holiday has also been declared under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881 which means banks will also remain closed on this day.
