As part of the “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” program of the Government of India aimed at uniting the entire country, Assam and Nagaland Foundation Day was celebrated at Punjab Raj Bhawan today and presentations were given showcasing the cultures and arts of both the states.
On this occasion, the video message of Nagaland Governor Shri La Ganesan and Assam Governor Shri Laxman Prasad Acharya was shared with the audience.
On this occasion, Chandigarh Sangeet Natak Academy presented Bodo and Dahal Thungri dance of Assam, Nagaland Bamboo dance and a dance by combining the dances of both the states. Apart from this, Bar Doi Shikla dance and Bagurumba dance of Assam prepared by North Zonal Cultural Center were also presented.
On this occasion, Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Union Territory Chandigarh Shri Gulab Chand Kataria said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has further strengthened the spirit of unity in diversity among the countrymen and has also made the people of other states aware of diverse cultures.
‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’ programme has been launched to connect it with the culture and art of other states. He said that the spirit of mutuality of people enables unity in diversity, which manifests as nationalism, and it is important to maintain it in future as well.
The Governor said that our various folk arts, folk dances and cultures are our common heritage, which does not discriminate on the basis of caste or rich-poor, but connects each other.
He said that since last one year, State Foundation Days are being celebrated at Punjab Raj Bhavan, which is a symbol of social, economic and cultural development and unity of our country. He said that there have been great people in different states, no matter in which state they were born, but they are not people of any one state but of the entire country.
Prominent personalities present on the occasion included ACS to Governor K. Siva Prasad, Additional Solicitor General of India Shri Satyapal Jain, Special Secretary U.T. Abhijit Garg, Commissioner MC Chandigarh Amit Kumar and other prominent personalities of the Chandigarh & Punjab.
