Former Union Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party leader, Ms. Preneet Kaur, along with the BJP Punjab Mahila Morcha President, Ms. Jai Inder Kaur, have expressed strong support for the students protesting at Rajiv Gandhi National Law University (RGNUL).
In a joint statement, Ms. Preneet Kaur and Ms. Jai Inder Kaur emphasized the sensitivity of the issue, urging that the concerns of the students be taken seriously and addressed promptly.
They asserted that the recent actions, including a late-night intrusion into the university hostel, constituted a clear violation of the students’ privacy, which cannot be justified under any circumstances.
While recognizing the importance of maintaining discipline within academic institutions, they stressed that such measures must not come at the expense of students’ fundamental rights. The leaders highlighted that respect for privacy is paramount and should be safeguarded.
Additionally, they condemned the alleged inappropriate comments made by the University Vice Chancellor during his visit to the hostel, calling such behavior unacceptable and unprofessional. They urged the university administration to take swift corrective action and ensure the students’ concerns are addressed respectfully and fairly.
