The Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested Head Constable Vikas, posted at Sadar Police Station in Bhiwani, while accepting a bribe of ₹5000.
The accused had demanded the bribe after the settlement of a complaint lodged against the complainant’s mother at the police station.
A government spokesperson revealed that the ACB team received a complaint that Head Constable Vikas was demanding ₹5000 from the complainant after settlement of the complaint filed against his mother.
Furthermore, the accused had withheld the original documents of a plot registry in the name of the complainant’s mother. Acting swiftly, the ACB team arrested Vikas red-handed while accepting the bribe.
A case has been registered against him at the Rohtak Anti-Corruption Bureau Police Station, and further action is being taken.
The ACB spokesperson informed that all necessary evidence is being collected, and a thorough investigation is underway.
The bureau has appealed to the public to report any government official or employee demanding a bribe for official work by calling the Haryana Anti-Corruption Bureau’s toll-free numbers – 1800-180-2022 or 1064.
