A third video purportedly showing the harassment of a young girl has surfaced on social media from Bihar’s Samastipur district, days after similar footage from the Karpurigram and Musrigharari areas led to police action.
The latest video is reportedly from Kalyanpur block. However, its authenticity, along with the date and exact location of the recording, has not been independently verified and remains subject to investigation.
The footage shows a young girl standing on a road as several youths allegedly harass her while recording the incident. One youth, wearing a vest, is seen repeatedly holding her hand as she attempts to move away. The girl repeatedly asks them to let her go and says she will call her brother.
The youths allegedly tell her to call him. At one point, another youth appears to move towards her aggressively and slaps her. Several people are visible nearby, but the video does not show anyone intervening.
A youth standing beside a motorcycle is also seen towards the end of the footage.
According to reports, police have taken cognisance of the matter and identified and arrested the accused allegedly involved in the incident. They were subsequently produced before a court and sent to judicial custody.
Authorities also reportedly used bulldozers on Friday to remove alleged encroachments or demolish properties linked to the accused.
The latest footage has emerged amid heightened scrutiny in Samastipur following the circulation of multiple videos allegedly showing harassment of women.
Earlier, two separate videos allegedly depicting incidents involving women surfaced from Karpurigram and Musrigharari. In one case, a young girl and a man travelling on a scooter were allegedly surrounded by a crowd, with some individuals accused of verbally abusing and physically assaulting them.
Police had initiated an investigation into that incident and arrested one of the accused, according to reports.
The latest video is being examined separately, with its authenticity, location and date of recording yet to be established.
