The Punjab Government on Friday ordered an important reshuffle in the state police administration, replacing Gurpreet Singh Bhullar as Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, with Harmanbir Singh, IPS, who has been given the additional charge of the key post.
According to an order issued by the Department of Home Affairs, Harmanbir Singh, a 2010-batch IPS officer of the State Police Service cadre, will continue as DIG, Border Range, Amritsar, and will additionally serve as Commissioner of Police, Amritsar, in place of Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, IPS.
Bhullar, a 2004-batch IPS officer of the State Police Service cadre, has been directed to report to the office of the Director General of Police, Punjab, until further orders. The government said his fresh posting orders would be issued separately.
The changes have been ordered on administrative grounds and take effect immediately.
The government has directed the officers concerned to join their new assignments without delay.
The order was issued with the approval of the competent authority and signed by Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, Principal Secretary to the Government of Punjab, Department of Home Affairs.
