Patiala, July 10, 2026 (Yes Punjab News)
Bringing international recognition to Punjab’s medical fraternity, Dr. Monica Varma, Senior IVF and Infertility Specialist at Sadbhavna Medical and Heart Institute, Patiala, presented her pioneering clinical research at the 42nd Annual Meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE)—the world’s largest and most prestigious conference in reproductive medicine—held in London.
Her research focused on enhancing the success and precision of the very first IVF cycle, an area of immense importance for couples struggling with infertility. The study revealed that although the uterus may appear completely normal on ultrasound and routine investigations, nearly one in every five women (20%) undergoing IVF was found to have a chronic infection of the uterine lining (chronic endometritis) when evaluated using advanced diagnostic techniques following hysteroscopy. Timely diagnosis and treatment of this hidden condition before the first IVF cycle significantly improved pregnancy rates and overall IVF success.
The research attracted keen interest and appreciation from leading fertility experts across the world for its potential to refine IVF protocols, reduce treatment failures, and improve patient outcomes globally.
Dr. Monica Varma has earned the rare distinction of presenting her original clinical research at the ESHRE Annual Meeting for eight consecutive years, reflecting her unwavering commitment to scientific excellence, innovation, and evidence-based reproductive medicine.
Expressing her gratitude, Dr. Monica credited the achievement to the collective dedication of the entire IVF team. She made special mention of Dr. Sarabpreet Singh, an accomplished embryologist, whose expertise and commitment to maintaining international standards in embryology laboratories have been instrumental in delivering consistently high-quality patient care. She also acknowledged the trust and confidence reposed by thousands of patients, describing it as the greatest motivation behind the team’s continued pursuit of excellence.
Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Monica Varma and Dr. Sarabpreet Singh jointly lead Sadbhavna IVF School and Fertilis Academy, a premier academic platform that provides advanced training in assisted reproductive technology to doctors, embryologists, and fertility professionals from India and abroad, further strengthening the institute’s contribution to education, research, and innovation in reproductive medicine.
