Punjab Jails and NRI Affairs Minister Dr Ravjot Singh on Friday announced that the Punjab government would construct 31.20-metre high-level bridge over the Bahera Bari Khad at a cost of Rs 2.03 crore and the project once completed, would give a major reprieve to the residents of Kandi region as it was a long pending demand of the area.
Stating this, the Minister also mentioned that the formalities to start the project were on last leg as the tender process had already been put in place and the construction would be commenced shortly. The Minister pointed out that the Punjab government was giving due attention towards the holistic development of Kandi region besides the ongoing works were also being continuously monitored so that the region could be developed as per the current development scenario with requisite modern facilities and infrastructure.
He said that Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann had already reiterated regarding all-around development of Kandi region as he visited the Shamchaurasi assembly segment a few months ago to lay the foundation stone of several crucial infrastructure projects. He said that this high-level bridge was demanded by the residents since long and now the Punjab government has fulfilled their demand.
Dr Ravjot Singh said that strengthening of road connectivity is one of the foremost priorities of the Aam Aadmi Party government thus the Chief Minister had laid the foundation stone of Balachaur-Garhshankar-Hoshiarpur-Dasuya road project at the cost of Rs 99 crore encompassing a total of 105-km corridor. He said that this project would further expedite the pace of tourism, industrial and business activities across the region besides ensuring better transport facilities to the people. He said that Kandi region would further get a fillip in development as the Punjab government would bring more projects to facilitate the people of the region.
