Under the ongoing campaign “Yudh Nashian Virud” to make Punjab drug-free, the Commissionerate Police Jalandhar has carried out multiple actions against drug trafficking in the city during the past three days. During which 19 accused have been arrested and 348.24 grams of heroin, 65 narcotic pills and 2 cars have been recovered.
Sharing details, Commissioner of Police, Jalandhar, Smt. Dhanpreet Kaur said that while continuing strict action against drugs, under the supervision of G.O. Officers, police teams from various police stations of the Commissionerate Jalandhar conducted checkpoints and raids at many suspicious locations over the last three days.
During this, the police teams arrested *19 accused who were involved in drug-related activities and registered 12 FIRs under the NDPS Act against them* , initiating strict legal proceedings against them. Among these accused, some had previously been involved in drug peddling as well.
From their possession, the police recovered 348.24 grams of heroin and 65 intoxicant tablets. She also mentioned that the police team of *Police Station Rama Mandi seized a Polo car (PB08DV7600).
CP Jalandhar said that during these operations, the police team of PS Division No. 7 achieved success by arresting 1 accused with 10 grams of heroin.
During the investigation, the forward and backward links of the accused were probed, which led to the arrest of 6 more accused associated with the same drug network and *281 grams of heroin and an Alto car (PB19-H-9864) were recovered from their possession.
Apart from taking strict action against drug peddlers, equal emphasis is being laid on the rehabilitation of drug addicts. In this regard, a *total of 17 individuals have been admitted to drug de-addiction centers* for treatment and recovery.
