New Delhi, 20 May, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)
Peoples Action has today reminded CM J&K Shri Omar Abdullah of a proposal it has sent on 2nd May, 2025, seeking to honour the victims of the Pahalgam Massacre at Baisaran Valley.
In the latter sent earlier, before the border tensions with Pakistan began, the NGO had argued that India needs to acknowledge the senseless killing of such people and it must serve as a reminder of the legacy of religious persecution and violent terrorist activity in the Valley.
“Now that the clouds of war seem to have abated, we would like you to revisit our original proposal sent on May, 2nd 2025 on the subject”, wrote Apoorv Misra, member People’s Action in a follow-up email to the CM, J&K.
Sanjay Kaul, Founder of the group said, “ We are very hopeful that the CM, J&K will generously lead this attempt to bring closure to this dastardly act that had tragic repercussions for all”.
Atul Goyal, President of URJA, a residents collective in NCR Delhi, has also given a call for support to the idea.” We have consulted our members of the executive as well as residents at large and there is full and total support for this proposal. We urge the CM, J&K to take a positive view of this project and see it through”.
Kunal Prakash, a member of People’s Action has initiated contacts with affected families, who had originally sought the victims to be treated as martyrs. “We have spoken to some of the affected families and they respect and support our initiative. We intend to build a consensus across the political spectrum to move this proposal forward”, he said.
