In a gruesome incident a 17-year-old grandson inspiring from some TV-serials killed his 83-year-old grandmother and then set her on fire in a nearby village Bassi Kale Khan. The local police have cracked the case within 10-hours with arrest of the accused Juvraj Singh.
Revealing this, Senior Superintendent of Police Navjot Singh Mahal said Harjeet Singh of Bassi Kale Khan stated that his mother Joginder Kaur was on bed for last three months due to fracture in her right leg.
He told police that on April 12, he along with his wife had gone for shopping at Hariana in view of their marriage anniversary around 2 pm and received a call from their som Juvraj Singh when they were way back, who informed that some unidentified persons had attacked at home.
Harneet, his wife Jaspal Kaur and some neighbourer reached outside home and entered from another entry gate as the main gate was locked from inside. They found the room of Joginder Kaur under fire along with her bed while the hands and feet of Juvraj was tied with a scarf in another room, said the SSP.
Mahal said that as per Juvraj’s statement, four unknown persons had barged into the house and set her grandmother’s bed on ablaze and threatened that his father must withdraw cases against them otherwise they would eliminate entire family. A case under sections 302, 201 and 34 of IPC was registered in Hariana Police station.
Mahal said a team led by SP (D) Ravinder Pal Singh Sandhu, DSP (Rural) Gurpreet Singh and Inspector Hargurdev Singh was formed which examined and inspected all the facts thoroughly and found holes in Juvraj’s story. He said that team later found that Juvraj had killed his Joginder Kaur and had concocted the entire story.
SSP said Juvraj told police that he was badly frustrated with his grandmother and was conspiring to kill her. He confessed on April 12, he attacked on grandma’s head with iron rode and later set her on ablaze by pouring oil.
The Police Chief said that police have recovered iron rode, oil can and bottle, used in the crime by the accused.
