Uttar Pradesh’s Yusha Nafees and Unnati Tripathi clinched their maiden U-19 boys’ and girls’ titles respectively, defeating the top seeds on the concluding day of the Sub-Junior and Junior National Squash Championship in Jaipur on Thursday.

Second seed Nafees, who finished runner-up last year, defeated Maharashtra’s Purav Rambhia in straight games. Meanwhile, third/fourth seed Unnati overcame Maharashtra’s Akanksha Gupta, last year’s runner-up, in four games to claim the girls’ crown.

In the U-17 boys’ final, Maharashtra’s Hridhaan Shah edged out Tamil Nadu’s Shiven Agarwal in a thrilling five-game encounter.

West Bengal’s Alia Kankaria and Rajasthan’s Inaya Andrabi also captured the girls’ U-13 and U-11 titles respectively, defeating the top seeds in five-game contests.

Earlier, Nafees and Akanksha had advanced to their second consecutive U-19 finals at the championship on Wednesday.

Nafees, last year’s runner-up, defeated Rajasthan’s fifth/eighth seed Subhash Choudhary 18-16, 11-3, 11-1 in the semifinals to set up a title clash with top seed Purav Rambhia of Maharashtra.

In the girls’ U-19 category, top seed Akanksha defeated her Maharashtra teammate Eesha Shrivastava 11-7, 11-8, 14-12 in the semifinals. However, she fell short in the final against Unnati Tripathi, who had defeated second seed and defending champion Anika Dubey in the other semifinal.

In the U-17 boys’ semifinals, Maharashtra’s Hridhaan Shah stunned top seed and state-mate Shreyansh Jha, while Shiven Agarwal defeated second seed and fellow Tamil Nadu player Lokesh Subramani.

Elsewhere, Karnataka’s Riyansika Verma defeated top seed Aadya Budhia in a five-game thriller in the girls’ U-17 semifinals. Divyanshi Jain upset Tamil Nadu’s second seed Goushika M in the girls’ U-15 semifinals.
