Will raise sacrilege, firing issue in Parliament if Kunwar Vijay Pratap not reinstated by June 1: Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, May 27, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab unit chief of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Sangrur Member of Parliament (MP), Bhagwant Mann, has sought the reinstatement of special investigating team (SIT) member, Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh, stating that the process of bringing those behind the incidents of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Behbal Kalan Kotkapura and firing incidents at Bargari, besides the 3-decade old Nakodar desecration and firing incidents had been put on the backburner.

Vijay Pratap SinghIn a statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh on Monday, AAP leader said that the upright and honest officer of the stature of Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh was transferred by the Election Commission of India (ECI) at the insistence of Captain Amarinder Singh Government apparently give a huge benefit to the Badals for their alleged involvement in the incidents. He accused Captain Amarinder Singh of indulging in a dilly-dallying tactics just to delay the process justice delivery.

He stated that the Captain, like his predecessors – the Badals, was trying to derail the process of justice delivery by way of holding sham inquiries setting up commissions and so on. He said had the state government in the saddle been a tad willing to expedite the process, he would have implemented the Justice Zora Singh Commission report by pointing its fingers towards the Badals, who had themselves set up the commission.

He stated what to speak of implementing the commission’s, he went to the extent of shelving the report of the justice Ranjit Singh Commission which he himself had constituted. Even setting up of the SIT under his watch proved a wild goose chase as the same rattled by transfer of one of its members. The AAP leader said that had Captain Amarinder Singh been a wee bit serious to the probe, there would never have been recurrence of such disturbing incidents later, like the one in Malerkotla and elsewhere.

He added that since Captain Amarinder Singh, who also holds the charge of state Home Minister, had failed to maintain the law and order in the state, should tender his resignation. This would clear the road for others who could rise above the party lines and bring those responsible for the acts to justice.

He said that the Captain Government should immediately take an urgent call on the reinstatement Kunwar Vijay Partap Singh so as to take the probe to a conclusive end, saying that he (Captain) himself had said while interacting with media persons that he would take action in this regard once the election process was over. Mann said that if the government failed to do so by June 1, 2019, he would take up the matter to the public at large in the first session of Parliament and take the road route, if need be.
