All India Congress Committee has suspended Phillaur MLA Vikramjit Chaudhary from the party till further orders. He has also been removed from all party positions.
Devender Yadav, the in-charge of Punjab Congress, has informed Chaudhary that his activities were not as per dignity of his post. The image of the party was being tarnished and a wrong message was being sent among the public and Congress workers.
Yadav said that despite several warnings, Chaudhary has been continuing with anti-party activities necessitating further action in the matter.
The action comes after Chaudhary continued to attack party’s Jalandhar candidate and former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi.
Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary, his mother and wife of former Jalandhar MP Chaudhary Santokh Singh recently joined BJP after the claims of Chaudhary family for Jalandhar ticket were dismissed by the party. Vikramjit resigned from the post of Chief Whip of party in Punjab Vidhan Sabha.
