Former Punjab MLA Jassi Khangura resigns from AAP

Chandigarh, April 24, 2024 (Yes Punjab News)

A prominent NRI and a former MLA Jassi Khangura Wednesday resigned from the primary membership of the Aam Aadmi Party.

Jassi Khangura, who was elected MLA from the Kila Raipur constituency on a Congress ticket in 2007 had joined AAP ahead of the 2022 Vidhan Sabha elections.

Khangura was among the frontrunners for the AAP ticket for the Ludhiana Lok Sabha constituency. His resignation comes days after AAP fielded Ludhiana Central MLA Ashok Parashar Pappi as the party’s candidate for Ludhiana Lok Sabha.

The former MLA told media that he was not immediately joining any other party.

Khangura has sent his resignation to jailed AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal wherein he wrote, “Whilst my tenure with y our party has been relatively short it has given me a valuable insight into how nascent parties operate. For that I am grateful.’

The former MLA wished Kejriwal ‘an early release from inequitable detention and overall good health.’
