Senior Superintendent of Police IPS Mr. Gulneet Singh Khurana revealed in a press statement here today that Rupnagar police have arrested accomplice of attacker involved in murder of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar.
Giving details, he said that on dated 13-04-2024, a shopkeeper named Vikas Prabhakar @ Vikas Bagga, pardhan of Vishva Hindu Parishad, Nangal mandal had been shot dead by two unidentified assailants. In this regard a case FIR No. 44 was registered on 13-04-2024 U/S 302/34 IPC 25/27-54-59 Arms Act at PS Nangal against unknowns.
During the investigation two assailants were arrested on dated 16.04.2024 and 02 weapons of 32 bore Pistols, 16 live cartridges, 01 empty used cartridges and a TVS Jupiter scooty used in crime have been recovered from them.
Mr. Khurana said that acting on input during further investigation of case FIR no. 44 dated 13.04.2024 PS Nangal, Rupnagar Police has arrested Gurpreet Ram @ Gora S/o Madan Lala R/o Punnu Majara Distt. SBS Nagar and a 32 bore pistol and 07 live cartridges have been recovered from him.
He said that preliminary investigations reveal that arrested accused were handled by the same handlers who committed murder of VHP leader Vikas Prabhakar @ Vikas Bagga at Nangal. He assured that Rupnagar Police is fully committed to eradicate organised crime and maintain peace & harmony in the district.
