Vigilance nabs ASI for taking bribe of Rs. 20,000

Chandigarh, February 4, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab Vigilance Bureau, today nabbed an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) posted at City Police station-2, Barnala red handed while accepting bribe of Rs. 20,000/-.

Disclosing this here, an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said ASI Surinderpal Singh was arrested on the complaint of Jasveer Kaur of Barnala city.

The complainant has approached the VB and alleged that the accused ASI was demanding Rs one lakh to help her for getting bail from the court and the deal was struck at Rs. 50,000.

After verifying his information, the VB team laid a trap and the accused ASI was arrested on the spot while taking bribe of Rs.20,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.

He informed that a case under Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered against the accused at VB FS police station Patiala and further investigation was under progress.
