To tackle anti-Panth forces, Sikh Qaum should unite: SGPC Chief Adv Dhami

Amritsar, February 25, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
To commemorate the martyrs of Saka (massacre) Nankana Sahib that took place at the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev Ji at Gurdwara Sri Nankana Sahib in February 1921, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today organised a big Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) at Godharpur village in Gurdaspur district.

The family of Bhai Lachhman Singh Dharowali, a martyr of Saka Nankana Sahib, had settled at Godharpur village and the 100-year centenary of the massacre was marked with full grandeur last year at this place.

Speaking on the 101st anniversary, SGPC President Advocate Dhami Dhami announced that Saka Nankana Sahib will be commemorated every year at Godharpur and the events will also be held at the towns of other martyrs of the massacre.

He said Sri Nankana Sahib is the birthplace of Sikh Qaum (community) and 100 years ago, to liberate this shrine from the control of mahants indulged in debauchery, the Khalsa Panth made great sacrifices.

He added that the martyrs of Saka Nankana Sahib are our guides and the determination with which they liberated the shrine is a way to keep the Sikh spirit alive.

Advocate Dhami said, “Even today, many anti-Panth forces are bent on weakening the Panthak (Sikh) institutions and tackling them with unity is need of the time. The entire Sikh Qaum should unite under the leadership of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and work for the Charhdi Kala (rising spirit) of the Sikh faith and come forward to connect the youth and children with the Sikh heritage.”

Sri Harmandar Sahib head granthi Giani Jagtar Singh, kathawachak (narrator) Giani Jaswant Singh, and SGPC executive committee member S. Gurinderpal Singh Gora also shared Gurmat views with the Sangat and raagi jathas of Sri Harmandar Sahib connected the Sangat (congregation) with Gurbani Kirtan.

On this occasion, Advocate Dhami and Giani Jagtar Singh honoured the prominent personalities with Siropaos (robe of honour).
