Stop Genocide in Manipur, CM must resign over horrifying incident: Mahila Kisan Union

Jalandhar, July 21, 2023 (Yes Punjab News)
The Mahila Kisan Union expressed deep condemnation over the horrifying act in the BJP-ruled hill state, wherein a mob from one community paraded two women from the opposing side in a naked state. Furthermore, the women were subjected to alleged dragging, slapping, and punching by the culprits, leading to an outrageous assault on their modesty.

Demanding the immediate resignation of the Manipur Chief Minister, Rajwinder Kaur Raju, President of the Mahila Kisan Union has fervently appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the strictest punishment to be meted out to all perpetrators involved in this heinous crime against innocent women.

Farmer leader Raju termed this horrific incident as a black day for women in India. Expressing her disappointment with the “Beti Bachao” sloganeering of the BJP led central government, she bemoaned that the safety and security of Indian women have deteriorated further instead of improving in the Modi dispensation. “Instead of indulging in politics of communal divide to garner votes, the responsibility of leaders at the helm was to protect and safeguard women from the brutal paws of right-wingers,” she added.

In a hard-hitting statement seeking justice for the victims, the women leader asserted that this incident was a blatant attack on the dignity of women and highlights the shameful and distressing treatment women endure in the strife-hit hilly state, where those in power turned their blind eyes to a series of inhumane attacks.

Strongly criticizing the top leadership of the saffron party, Raju emphasised that the entire nation is deeply concerned about the horrific violence leading to genocide in Manipur for the past two months. However, the silence maintained by the Prime Minister has unfortunately led to such extreme and disgraceful attacks on women.

She pointed out that had the Prime Minister taken strict action against Brij Bhushan Singh, a bahubali MP of his party, who was president of wrestling federation of India, for molesting the Olympian wrestler girls, such a ghastly incident could not happen at all.

Accusing the Union Home Minister Amit Shah of not effectively curbing the violence, she urgently implored that the PM must visit the violence-hit state and take immediate measures to halt the ongoing genocide.
